This project aims to develop a “Crop Monitoring Service” that:

  • Sends out alerts to smallholders to warn if crop production is low;
  • Gives advice and recommendations on farmer-specific management practices;
  • Is accessible by mobile phone technology, and;
  • Is affordable to smallholder farmers.

The Project targets to have 40,000 farmers subscribed to the CROPMON information Service.

Information disseminated to farmers assists them to make improved farm management decisions during the growing season.

Target crops for CGA are maize and wheat
