Susan advocates for sustainable agriculture. She attributes her success to practices such as crop rotation, residue retention, minimum tillage, and the use of primarily organic fertilizers. As an FSC, she has received advisory support from Bayer East Africa and CGA, mainly through the Smallholder Productivity Improvement Project (SMAPIP), a Bayer East Africa initiative in partnership with CGA, now implemented in 17 counties. The SMAPIP project, in its third phase, began in 2021 in 18 counties, focusing on accelerating smallholder production.

To date, the SMAPIP initiative has reached over 226,245 farmers and more than 850 FSCs across Kenya. Susan is a fervent advocate for women’s empowerment (SDG 5) and youth empowerment in agriculture. Her commitment to empowering other farmers drew over 1000 attendees, keen to learn how to achieve success in agri-business.

The Bayer team, led by Deborah Mallowa, the Bayer Africa Regional Head, acknowledged Susan as a key proponent of Good Agricultural Practices, contributing to healthier and more nutritious food for all.
