Smallholder Productivity Improvement Project (SMAPIP)

Brief

In the first phase under the ‘Accelerating Smallholder Production for Impact’, Bayer East Africa in partnership with CGA implemented smallholder-oriented production activities in 18 counties in which 143,000 smallholder farmers, 514 Village based Advisors, 278 Spray service providers and 423 agrodealers were reached. These actors were reached through direct field activities at the county level.

CGA and Bayer EA continues to support smallholder farmers in the improvement of their agricultural productivity as well as commercializing their production. In a new phase dubbed Kenya Smallholder Productivity Improvement Project (Kenya – SMAPIP)

CGA proposes to:

  • Support smallholder farmers to enhance access to quality inputs (Bayer maize seed, crop protection productions, and complementary inputs) through VBA and agrodealer models
  • Improve access to agricultural extension services through the VBA model, integrate more youth in agricultural and agribusiness activities through the VBA and 4K Club models,
  • Strengthen linkages to output markets and other agribusiness service providers.
